Position: Vertica DBA

Description:
| This person provides support to network administration, provides mainframe support, performs data modeling, develops tables for databases, develops applications for web-based applications, and provides design, programming, and testing services. This person also manages and maintains all production and non-production databases. Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration, this person will performs backup and recovery on DBMS and configure database parameters, along with related activities. Seven years of experience is desired. · Strong DBA experience in Vertica is required. Also having DB2 DBA experience will be best fit. · Excellent SQL skills and DB scripting in Vertica and DB2 are required. · Strong & working experience of UNIX/ LINUX · Experience working in a data warehouse environment is required. · Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling is required. · Strong problem solving and analysis skills are required · Working experience in ETL tools / Control-M Job scheduler is preferred. · Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) are required. · Healthcare experience and related business knowledge is preferred.
Vertica APP DBA Skills: · Have knowledge of database design, partition, segmentation, schemas, tables, and cluster management · Have good working knowledge of Vertica DB architecture, column orientation, High Availability and Recovery · Have work experience using Vertica utilities such as VSQL, Admin tools, using VIProbe etc. · Be able to perform DB monitoring, performance tuning, backup and restore. · Have good working knowledge of MPP, clustering, compression, encoding, and distributed query. · Any ETL /pipeline development experience against Vertica · Knowledge of Vertica Analytics Platform experience, especially with open-source R (a stat package/language - like SAS) |
